Pragma’s ambition is to make green hydrogen a reality for light mobility (electric bicycles, scooters, light quadricycles) and an accessible, everyday energy source for everyone.

Above all, Pragma believes in the innovation and advantages it provides as an energy source.

Operational Advantages

  • High autonomy: 1kg of hydrogen represents the energy equivalent to that stored in 75kg of batteries.
  • Short recharge time: between 1 and 5 minutes at a dedicated station

Environmental Advantages

  • About 4000 times less rare earth and noble metals than in a battery.
  • The use of carbon-free energy produced through renewable energy systems.

Hydrogen fuel cells are a key asset for the green energy transition.

Like any other vehicle, you should respect local traffic regulations (use turn signals, stop at red lights, etc.).
Our bikes are approved for road use and went through all the mechanical testing necessary to certify the safety of their usage.
If a heavy shock does occur, a valve will cut the supply and circulation of the hydrogen.  In this scenario, the bike’s energy supply will need to be repaired at a certified repair shop.

With a 3l/300bar hydrogen reservoir, the average assisted range is 150km in optimal conditions.
Numerous factors can reduce or increase this average range: the load, bags, use of the assistance, terrain, tire wear, etc.

Norm EN15194 prohibits the installation of throttles of any kind. Assistance may only be provided with pedaling.

Refuel our hydrogen bikes up to 300 bar at any dedicated stations.  Refer to the map to find the refueling station nearest to you.

  • The bicycle part must be serviced – like any other bike – at your usual bike repair shop, which will recommend an appropriate service interval.
If you want to service your bike yourself, you can refer to the manual provided with the bike.
  • The motor does not require regular servicing. If you encounter an issue, contact one of our certified repair technicians or contact us.

You can call the service that provided the bike. If your bike comes from Pragma directly with no intermediaries involved, you can contact us via the form on our website.

In general, squeaky braking is caused by the disks or the pads.
The disks can be dirty or obstructed at the yoke by small debris (gravel for example).

Most of the time, the squeaks are caused by “pad glazing” where a hardened layer forms on the surface of the pads due to overheating. The disk brakes we equip our bikes with are very effective but require some getting used to.

To avoid pad glazing, avoid continuous braking over long distances, particularly when going downhill. Instead, pump the brakes, making sure to use both simultaneously.

The type of gear transmission we use on our hydrogen bikes significantly reduces the risk of the chain coming off.
If it does happen, you just put the chain back on the bike’s front chainring and the single rear cog. You might get your hands dirty, but it is relatively easy.

Tip: a sufficiently taught chain is more effective and less likely to fall off or break. Remember to periodically get your bike checked at a repair shop, where they will tighten it if needed.

The chain used on our NEO bikes is a typical bike chain found in bike shops.
If it breaks but is still in good condition, it is repairable with a “quick link” matching the size of the chain and replacing the broken link with it.
This can be performed relatively easily, by yourself if you know how, or at your usual bike repair shop.

Tip: a well-greased chain is less likely to break. Remember to take care of your bike!

A high proportion of the mechanical parts are recyclable. If you want to learn more about their end-of-life treatment, contact your local waste disposal centers to find out how they are recycled.
For the hydrogen part of the bike, its electrical and electronic components, Pragma collects these materials for appropriate treatment and reuses or recycles them depending on their condition.
Pragma promotes the long-term leasing of its vehicles and stations to be able to guarantee appropriate end-of-life treatment.

The bike’s digital screen indicates the level remaining with 10 bars.

Each bar represents 10% of the battery or around:

  • 15 km for the NEO version
  • 10km for Alpha version

For the parts you would find on a typical bike (tires, gears, brakes, accessories, etc.), it is possible to repair and work on your bike yourself or take it to a traditional bike shop.
For the motor parts (hydrogen and electrical) you will have to take it to a specialized technician.

Consult the list of certified repair technicians close to you.

Several possibilities:

  • There is no more hydrogen in the tank and the buffer battery is empty. Bring your bike to the closest station and refuel it.
  • The screen is broken or disconnected and won’t turn on.
  • There is an electrical issue in the system (wiring or electronic).

In any of these situations, try turning the vehicle off and on again before contacting a technician.

Offers and services

Pragma Mobility’s mission is to provide a complete solution for lightweight hydrogen-powered mobility: from producing local, green hydrogen to its distribution as well as manufacturing vehicles that run on it (bikes, tricycles, scooters).

Our production stations allow for local production of green hydrogen for on-site distribution: no transportation or greenhouse gas emissions!

To make our bicycles accessible, we developed a model available for leasing from only €79 without tax per month.

We offer a 2-year guarantee on our hydrogen bikes.
In the case that the bike is being leased, maintenance and servicing are included (excluding wear).

Hydrogen Bike

The first-generation ALPHA bikes weighed 32 kg.
The latest generation, NEO, weighs 34 kg.

We decided to keep this extra weight, which stems from the choice of using durable materials while maintaining reasonable costs.

Approved electrical-assist bikes are subjected to the same motorway rules as mechanical bicycles. Although we strongly recommend all users wear an approved helmet, helmets are only obligatory for children up to the age of 12.

Today, norm EN15194 is the standard for electrical-assist bikes. Its principal regulations are:

  • Maximum motor speed limited to 25 km/h
  • Motor power restricted to 250 watts
  • No throttles: assistance is only available when pedaling and will cut out when pedaling stops.

Our bikes are designed to comply with current regulations and the motor is limited to 25 km/h.
This means the electrical assistance will automatically stop above 25 km/h. However, going faster is still possible rolling downhill or with intense pedaling.

Generally, filling up a hydrogen bike takes less than 2 minutes.

You can fill up the bike’s tank at a dedicated station. To find the station closest to you, consult our  interactive map.

They are electrical-assist bikes (e-bikes), but the energy that drives the electric motor is produced directly with a hydrogen fuel cell instead of a rechargeable battery.

Our hydrogen bikes come equipped with an adjustable-stiffness suspension fork, which is lockable to avoid energy loss on steep inclines.  There is no suspension on the back half: it is unnecessary as the bikes have fat tires suitable for paved roads or trail riding. That type of suspension is seen on all-terrain bikes.

Our bikes are equipped with hydraulic disk brakes. This type of braking is the best-performing and most progressive on the market.

The ALPHA model uses an ENVIOLO continuously variable speed shifting system.
The NEO model uses a TDCM motor with a 5-speed integrated hub-based gearbox.

You select the desired power level depending on the terrain and your pedaling ability with a handlebar twist grip.  This simplifies the use of the gears for a comfortable ride. There is a single sprocket at the output, and the gear ratio change is fully integrated within the hub.

The tires and inner tubes are commercially available “presta” type.  All pumps suitable for that standard are suitable.
Nota bene: modern pumps often come with the three standard tips.

The bikes can only be transported on a hitch rack attached to your trailer hitch. They cannot be transported on roof or hatchback bike racks.

As of now, we have one size medium frame suitable for people measuring 1.60 to 1.90m by adjusting the seat and handlebars. For your information, the frame is size 44.

Our hydrogen bikes have lights, as required by law. They have particularly high-performance LED lights.

You can park hydrogen bikes just like any other bike. We do recommend avoiding “wheel clamps” that can damage your tires. Whenever possible, prefer a sturdy rack or fixed point, ensuring that leaving your bike is permitted in that location and does not obstruct the passage of pedestrians, wheelchairs, or strollers.

As an option for our ALPHA models, we offer frame padlocks or foldable code locks.
On the NEO models, a frame padlock is provided and can optionally be completed with any other type of anti-theft device.

Like any electrical assist bicycle, hydrogen bikes can work without power.

Our bikes are equipped with systems to prevent theft and to find them in case of loss or theft:

  • Integrated GPS tracking in the bike
  • An app linked to the bike enables defining a normal use perimeter, setting off an alarm in case it leaves the area, remote motor shut off, and locating it.
  • A frame padlock is provided and can optionally be completed with any other anti-theft device.

Our first systems used a lithium battery for buffer storage. In our latest generation of bikes (NEO) and scooters, supercapacitors have replaced these lithium batteries.
